Mobile operators in Cambodia

There are four major mobile operators in Cambodia:

  • CamGSM Co Ltd (Cellcard)
  • Smart Axiata Co Ltd (Smart Axieta)
  • Viettel (Cambodia) Pte Ltd (Metfone)
  • South East Asia Telecom (Cambodia) Co Ltd (Seatel Cambodia)

Cellcard

Formerly known as Mobitel, Cellcard is a mobile phone network operator in Cambodia. It was founded in 1997 and has since become one of the largest mobile phone networks in Cambodia. Cellcard currently holds over 4 million subscribers.

Cellcard offers both prepaid and postpaid services, as well as international calling plans with rates that vary depending on whether you’re calling within or outside of Cambodia. You can pay for your calls by buying top-up cards at locations throughout Cambodia’s major cities, or by using your credit card online.

In short, the company provides several operations and services such as Operation and provision of Cellular Mobile Service, Operation and provision of PSTN and FWLL service, Operation and Provision of VoIP service, and internet services.

Metfone

Metfone is one of the most popular cell phone companies in Cambodia. It has been operating since 2007 and offers a variety of services to its customers. The company has grown rapidly since its inception, becoming one of the largest mobile phone providers in the country.

Metfone services include calling, texting, data and mobile internet usage as well as international roaming through partnerships with several foreign carriers. They also sell phones from leading brands like Apple and Samsung at competitive prices.

Metfone coverage is available throughout the country except for remote areas where it is difficult to install infrastructure due to mountainous terrain or dense jungles where there are few roads or other transportation options available for construction crews working on new cell towers needed for expanding coverage areas into rural areas where Metfone subscribers live (or work).

All of its service provisions are included: Operation and provision of international Telecommunications gateway service, Operation and provision of Cellular Mobile Service, Operation and provision of PSTN and FWLL service, Operation and Provision of VoIP service, and internet services.

Seatel

Seatel Cambodia was founded in 2012 by a team of three who shared a passion for bringing the best services to their customers. The company started with the goal of offering coverage in all areas of Cambodia, and it has grown to serve over 40% of the population.

The company offers international calling services as well as global roaming packages for travelers and expats who are looking to stay connected while abroad, including those who live in or visit Cambodia. Smart

Smart is a mobile operator in Cambodia since 2008. Smart offers a wide range of services, including high-speed internet access and a wide range of devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Smart has a number of different packages for internet access. These packages include both mobile and fixed-line services, and all have varying download speeds. The company also offers several add-ons to its standard packages, including a data roaming option that allows customers to use their phone abroad without incurring any additional charges.

Smart offers a range of mobile phone plans and devices, including smartphones and tablets. The company also operates a number of retail stores across Cambodia. Apart from the provision of cellular mobile service, the company also provides VoIP service and internet service in terms of mobile internet and home internet.

Former mobile operator companies

Beeline

Beeline is a Russian telecommunications company. It is the largest mobile operator in Russia and has over 80 million subscribers. The company was established in 1993 by VimpelCom, which holds 100% ownership of Beeline. It operates in Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Armenia under different brand names: Djezzy (in Algeria), Kyivstar (in Ukraine), Wind (in Canada) and others. The company shut down its operation after being acquired by Metfone in 2015. And, all its subscriptions were transferred to Metfone. 

Hello Axieta

Hello Axieta is one of the largest mobile operators in Cambodia. They provide phone numbers and mobile operator services to millions of customers every day. Hello Axieta was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Axiata Group Berhad (Malaysia), Vietnam’s Quang Trung Corporation, and Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, Inc. This company later was merged and became a Smart Axieta as today. 

QB

QB, Cambodia Advance Communications Co., Ltd. (CADCOMMS), is the fourth largest mobile operator in Cambodia and owned by Smart. QB has a good coverage, which covers more than 99% of population areas and villages. QB has good customer service: if you have any question about your account or phone, you can contact them via email or facebook inbox or by calling directly to QB Customer Service center at +855 23 927 555 (free from landline).

Common codes for all operators

The Telecoms Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) – a wing of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication-established the five common codes and their functions in order to provide convenience to all mobile service users. The above information was official announced by MPATC dated 29 December 2021.And, the codes and their functions are provides in detail as:

(2) *1201# To check the balance

(3) *1202# To check the user identity

(4) *1203*PIN# To top-up

(5) 1204 To contact customer service

Five Common Code for mobile operations in Cambodia

The users may use the five common codes above across all mobile networks, free-of-charge, to terminate any unwanted value-added services, check credit balance, check user identity, top-up, or contact the customer service of each mobile network operator, starting 1 January 2022.
