Mobile usage in Cambodia is developing at a rapid rate. The number of mobile phones per capita has grown from under 15 percent in 2010 to more than 80 percent in 2016, with over 12 million active SIM cards in use today. According to TRC, as of May 2021, the number of active mobile phone subscriptions across the country’s six operators was 20,481,051, dropping by 0.08 percent year-on-year. This figure is the equivalent of 124.09 percent of the total population. Mobile phone users are increasingly becoming internet users as well. However, at the same time, the number of mobile internet subscriptions across Cambodia also recorded a 2.36 percent drop to 14,863,435, whereas fixed broadband internet subscriptions across the country’s 37 providers logged a 33.07 percent climb to 249,132.
