The experience

What to expect

Visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the memorial site of the Khmer Rouge regime's S-21 interrogation and detention center. Preserved classrooms, cells, photographs, documents, personal effects, and survivor Vann Nath's paintings bear witness to the people imprisoned here and the crimes committed between 1975 and 1979.

The museum's purpose is remembrance, education, and peace. Visitors move through the historic buildings and permanent exhibition at their own pace or with an audio guide, then may use the White Lotus Room for quiet reflection on weekdays.

Open daily, including public holidays, from 08:00 to 17:00. International adult admission is US$5; ages 10–17 pay US$3 and children under 10 enter free with identification. Exhibits may not be appropriate for visitors aged 14 or younger. Dress respectfully with arms and legs covered; mobile-phone use is prohibited inside exhibition buildings.
