What to expect
Prek Thnout is a community-based ecotourism site in the coastal mountains of Bokor National Park between Kampot and Preah Sihanouk. Visitors can follow mangrove boardwalks, hike with local guides to waterfalls, swim in streams, take evening firefly boat trips and learn about fishing, seafood preparation, rattan weaving and other non-timber forest products.
The community offers a guesthouse, locally prepared meals and trained guides. Published reference prices include a US$3 community entrance fee, US$30 boat rental for up to 15 people, meals at US$3 per person and a local nature guide at US$3 for groups of up to ten, with additional guiding charged by the hour.
