What to expect
Koh Han is a long Mekong island in Borei O’Svay Sen Chey District, around 22 km from Stung Treng. Its community tourism landscape changes with the river: dry-season water exposes white sand and sculpted roots, while wet-season floods create calm forest channels for boats and kayaks. Visits can include birdwatching, village encounters, swimming, camping and walks in Neak Ta forest.
Koh Han’s community has received ASEAN community-based ecotourism recognition and national accreditation. A current local service lists a 3–4 hour Koh Han boat trip at US$40 for one to four guests, and 4–5 hour boat-and-kayak trips from US$55 for one or two guests. Multi-day community camping programmes are also offered; confirm seasonal routes, community arrangements and current prices before booking.
