2nd Anniversary of the Khmer Krama’s UNESCO Inscription
Cambodia marks two years since the cultural practices and expressions linked to Krama were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List.
What to expect
4 December 2026 marks the second anniversary of the inscription of cultural practices and expressions linked to Krama, a traditional woven textile in Cambodia, on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The checked cotton scarf is woven throughout Cambodia and is closely tied to everyday life, social practices and cultural identity. It can be worn as clothing, used for protection from the sun, wrapped around belongings or presented in cultural and ceremonial contexts. This listing records the verified heritage anniversary; no separate national public programme has been announced for 2026.
