30 November 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of Chapei Dang Veng’s inscription on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. The Cambodian tradition combines singing with the chapei, a distinctive long-necked lute.
Performers use poetry, folk tales, Buddhist stories, satire and social commentary to entertain audiences while transmitting knowledge and cultural values. This listing records the verified heritage anniversary; no separate national public programme has been announced for 2026.
